- How long is a mare's gestation?
- A mare's gestation lasts 340 days on average, about 11 months. The normal range runs from 320 to 370 days depending on breed, season and the individual mare. Breedio automatically calculates the expected foaling date from the breeding or insemination date.
- When is the optimal foaling window?
- The optimal foaling window is between day 319 and day 349 of gestation. Breedio shows it in green and alerts you as it approaches. After day 349 the attention phase calls for closer monitoring; after day 365 a veterinary check is recommended.
- Is the Breedio Gestation Tracker free?
- Yes. The free plan is permanent, needs no credit card, and includes unlimited mares, full gestation phase tracking, and sync as soon as you create an account. The Premium plan costs €9.99 a year, adds gestation history, push notifications, recipient mare management and sharing, and also covers Training.
- Which devices does the app work on?
- Any recent browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Tracker is a progressive web app (PWA) that installs on iPhone, Android and desktop straight from the browser. Your mares are stored in your Breedio account, so they are the same on every device you sign in on.
- What notifications does Breedio send?
- Breedio sends reminders at veterinary milestones: day 10 (pregnancy confirmation), day 40 (first ultrasound check), day 319 (entering the optimal foaling window) and day 365 (overdue). Push notifications are part of the Premium plan.
- Can I track several mares and embryo transfers?
- Yes. Mares are unlimited, including on the free plan, and each mare has her own timeline. With the Premium plan, a mare can carry several active gestations on recipient mares, to follow embryo transfer programmes.
